I'm super excited to announce that the Korean rock movement is finally making it's way to my hometown! I've always said to anyone who would listen that Minneapolis is a great city for them to come and play. We have a very extensive music culture here and lots of clubs and venues to showcase the amazing talent coming from Korea.
Last year I went down to Iowa to see Galaxy Express play, and was one of only a handful of people that showed up for the concert. It was disappointing as a fan, because I feel the band deserved more exposure and they didn't receive the attention they could have if they'd been performing here in Minneapolis.
So, you can imagine my excitement when I spotted Minneapolis on the tour schedule for Rock N Roll Radio's upcoming spring U.S. tour.
If you're not familiar with Rock N Roll Radio you can check out a performance they did for Balcony TV here on YouTube:
Rock 'N' Roll Radio formed in 2011 and released their first full length album back in October of 2013. They've already made a name for themselves and garnered enough attention to be invited to South By Southwest for the 2014 showcases.
The band is made up of Kim Nae-Hyun on vocals and guitar, Kim Jin-Kyu on guitar and vocals, Lee Min-Woo covering bass and backing vocals and Choi Min-Kyu rounds it out on drums.
I'm looking forward to seeing them perform not only at the SeoulSonic showcase at SXSW but also here in Minnesota at our historic and beloved First Avenue. Bring on the rock music!
